I first heard the title ‘Accounting Technician’ when I applied for a position at the Air Force Base in MS> I got the job and I can tell you it was more than book keeping. It was cashier; payroll; reconciliation and report filing, and balancing a general ledger so I would say that that is the difference, yes, accounting technician has more areas to cover than just entering figures in a ledger or balance sheet.
Its differes, There aren’t many full time Book keepers anymore, they are usually Account Technicians who no how to book keep or Purchase ledger Clerks who no how to book keep. Book keeping is a good extra for a Technician to know.

It sounds to me like the same job, but one has a new fangled B/S title.
